BIOCHEMISTRY AND SOCIETY: LAW AND CONSCIENCE as society's restrictions on biochemical mechanisms!
ENJOYMENT OF BEHAVIOR is biochemical. The body releases chemicals into the bloodstream, which enter the brain, causing pleasure. In lower animals, behavior resulting in this chemical release is unrestricted. HUNTER-GATHERERS were animals mentally in this regard.* LAW AND CONSCIENCE result from CIVILIZATION, and were unknown to humans prior to Civilization's appearance. Man learned control of his destructive instincts, because Civilization couldn't survive without that control. Large numbers of people being together in one place, necessitated their cooperation. ANARCHY is a theory proposing that unrestricted behavior in Civilization results in a "leveling off" of violence, stabilizing society, with no further decline, thus allowing true freedom for everyone. This theory ignores what life is like when Civilization declines, and violence becomes endemic, as in Europe during the Dark Ages. A CULTURE LACKING FORMATION OF CONSCIENCE, its members cooperating with each other, as all social animals do, to pursue the goals of their group, can exist only in physical or mental isolation. Aggression toward others outside that group is unrestricted mentally, being restrained only by fear, when present. Such a mentality is deviant and criminal. It is an animal mentality, present in humans prior to Civilization.* ADOLPH HITLER wrote in "Mein Kampf": "They call us barbarians! We ARE barbarians! It is a proud and honorable title!". He also advocated the constant use of force. Puerto Ricans are playing similar music. Their concept of "freedom" involves cooperating with each other, and with other criminals helping them, to victimize those having conscience, while avoiding punishment, and deriving what they themselves call their "satisfaction" from so doing. *the animal nature of humans prior to Civilization, is demonstrated by the fact that bones of human children, bearing adult human teeth marks, have been found in prehistoric caves. Cannibalism was common when other sources of food were unavailable, children being more vulnerable to being killed than adults. Unrestrained aggression in large part accounts for the survival of humans in The State of Nature, and was essential to it. Since the advent of Civilization, however, such aggression threatens, rather than enables, the survival of the Human Race.
